Mitchell Villani

Mitchell Villani (born 13 August 1987) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Adelaide Redwings in the South Australian B Grade. Villani has previously played for the Adelaide Adrenaline and Adelaide Avalanche in the Australian Ice Hockey League between 2006 and 2010. He is also a former member of the Australian national ice hockey team.
==Playing career==
Mitchell Villani first played for Adelaide Avalanche of the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2006. During his first season he played three games and scored one goal. Villani remained with the Avalanche until 2008 when the team folded. Following the collapse of the Avalanche Villani signed with the newly formed Adelaide Adrenaline.〔 In 2008 Villani was also been a member for the South Australian State team in the Brown grade (23 & under) where he played four games.〔 In 2009 Villani played his second season for the Adrenaline where he played 11 games, scoring six points. Starting the 2010 season Villani signed with the Adelaide Redwings to play in the South Australia A Grade and South Australian B Grade leagues, as well as continuing to play for the Adrenaline. After the end of the season Villani resigned from both the Redwings and the Adrenaline. In 2012 he returned to play for the Redwings B in the South Australian B Grade.
Villani was first called up to represent Australia in 2004, where he joined the national under-18 team to compete at the 2004 IIHF World U18 Championship Division II Group B being held in Lithuania. Australia finished last and were relegated to Division III for the following year, while Villani failed to score any points and finished with a plus/minus of –11. In 2009 Villani was selected for the national senior team compete in the 2009 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A tournament. Australia finished last and were relegated while Villani recorded two points in his five games at the tournament. The following year Villani received his second call-up for the national senior team to compete in the 2010 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Mexico City, Mexico. Australia finished second behind Spain while Villani recorded three assists for the tournament.
